Cutting My Hair

My hair was at least nine inches long. My mom had been telling me that short hair would look good on me, but I was still super reluctant to cut it. It had been long for years, and I was scared that people wouldn't like it. Plus what if I ended up looking weird?

I found a picture on Pinterest of the type of style I wanted. Over the next few days, I fully convinced myself that I wanted short hair. My mom made me the appointment, and Friday afternoon I nervously walked into the hair salon.

Almost an hour later, all my hair was laying on the ground. I only had a little bit of it left. My stylist thought it was absolutely adorable and so did my mom. I was still trying to decide if I liked it or not but the time we got home.

My brother said I look like Velma from Scooby-Doo (I've been told I look sort of like her now and I guess the short hair completes the look. Next year's Halloween costume maybe??) but it didn't bother me. My siblings and dad said that they liked it.

I posted a photo on Instagram. Shockingly, it got more likes than what my pictures normally get. One girl commented that it suits me well, and another said that she loves it.

Now on this Sunday afternoon, I fully like it. It's easier; all I have to do is brush through it quickly and not have to worry about pulling it up in a ponytail or anything like that. It's also much cooler, and is nice when I'm outside on a hot day.

My thoughts are this: if you want to take a chance, take it! You want to completely change your style? Go for it. Tell your crush that you like him? Awesome. Chop off most of your hair? Sure. Why not?

If you don't end up taking that chance, then you'll always be asking yourself what if. And it will be something that you'll regret for a long time.
